- One of the greatest disasters by drowning which has ever happened in this district occurred in "The Great Flood" in July 1926. Three children named Fitzgerald were drowned near their home at Allensbridge.
The stalls and hay of John Donoghue of Kibbrin, were burned to the ground last summer but no lives were lost.
A lot of lives were lost when the influenza epidemic of 1915 broke out all over Ireland and Great Britain. The cause of the epidemic was decaying men and horses in Belgium and France, after the Great War.
