  1. It is during Shrove that most marriages take place in this district.
    It is thought unlucky, if you pass under a ladder on the day that you are are married, or if the bride wears a green dress.
    All Fridays and the thirteenth of July are thought very unlucky days for marriages.
    In most cases where farmers' sons or daughters are getting married, matches are made, also a big sum of money is often given as Dowry. Stock or goods are seldom given, but land is sometimes given.
    A wedding feast is held in most cases, especially in the case of a farmer's son or daughter. No "Straw boys" attend the wedding feasts in this district.
    "Hauling home" is sometimes done. That is, when the husband and wife are coming back from their
