  1. Kilcormey Creamery is the oldest one in this district. It was built in the year 1892. Old Mr. Pomeroy was first manager. Mr. Hegarty who succeeded him is present manager. Until this Creamery was built the farmers made their butter at home. There was a dairy attached to every farm-house The dairy was always thatched even if the rest of the houses around the yard were slated. The dairy was lined with white washed bags. There were two or more windows in each dairy according to size. The dairies should be kept spotlessly clean. There were two timber stands in each dairy and on these stands the cream pans were placed.
