- The people in olden times never had a good meal. They had potatoes and thick milk for their breakfast and they had turnips for dinner. They got up in the morning about four o'clock and worked for hours before eating. Wheaten bread was eaten in olden times. The people grew the wheat and threshed it and made flour of it and then made bread. Meat was often eaten the people often killed a cow and corned it. Fish was often eaten as well. The potatoes and sour milk for breakfast is gone out of fashion now.
