    I remember well on one occasion he told us that he and his brothers and sisters had to leave the house, and go out into some shady place in the haggard, fearing lest the roof of the house might fall in. There they remained huddled together during the whole night until the storm abated a little in the early morning. I cannot give the day and month this storm occurred, but I know well it was in the year 1839.
    In 1899 there was a severe thunder storm. It began about midnight, and never ceased until about 7 o 'clock the following morning. My brother and chanced to be walking near our own home
