  1. Local fairs were held in Glanworth in the Village Green and around the street up to about 60 years ago when the last one was held here.
    At the present time buyers often go to the farmers' houses and buy direct off the land.
    Six fairs fixed by Parliament were held in Glanworth every year, but being only four miles from Fermoy the people there succeeded in putting an end to them here.
    A Mr. Briscoe bought the Fair Field in Fermoy, and the Railway Company helped him and so Glanworth fairs were discontinued.
    The last one held was organized by Mr Tom Barry, Rock House, Ballyanihan, who went round to buyers and farmers to attend the Fair, but Fermoy had crippled Glanworth. Mr. Briscoe wanted different dates for the fairs here, but Parliament would not grant them -
