  1. Care of our Farm Animals
    The Cow.
The cow is a very useful animal on the farm. She supplies us with milk from which butter and cheese are made. The cow is put into a house in the winter and is fed with hay, turnips and mangolds.
The house is oblong shaped and has a galvanised roof on it.. The cow house is always situated in a sheltered place to give shelter to the cows in the winter time from the rain. Sometimes the cows are chained and sometimes they are tied to bales. There are poles stuck in the ground and there is a chain attached to the pole. The cow is tied with this chain to the pole. The bales are made of timber and each has a hook on the top. There is a chain attached to the hook and the cow is tied with this chain.
