   Fermoy Co Cork) hang a piece of cloth on the latch of the door and leave it there for the night. They call this piece of cloth "Blas Brigid". This cloth would cure head-aches by winding it tightly around the head and leaving it on it for twenty four hours.

   September the twenty ninth is known as Michaelmas day or the feast of the Dedication of Saint Michael. Long ago this day was known as the day of the geese, because on this day it was an old custom for the farmers to kill their first goose. All the farmers would gather together with a dead goose each. Then a draw would take place for the geese. The woman that would win would give a goose each to the poorest families of the district. This day is
