- About the year 1917 a terrible influenza epidemic spread all over Munster, and many were the victims of it.It was the worst ever experienced in Munster.People died by the score, and when they died their bodies turned black, and a ghastly odour came from them. In this way they had to be buried immediately. It was said that whiskey was the only cure for it, but it could not be obtained as the Great War was raging and it was wanted for the soldiers, who were fighting at the front. In this district a man was returning home one night, when he suddenly got sick. He struggled home, and went to bed, and died a few hours after.
