- The farm animals are,- cows, horses, pigs, sheep, goats, a donkey, and a mule. The domestic stock are the cat and the dog. The cows names are Bawny, Darkey, Polly, Maol, Cocked-horn, White legs, Daisy, and Magpie. When driving the cows we say "How, How". When calling the calves we say"Suck, Suck".
The cowhouse has white washed stone walls and a cement floor. There is a stall for each cow and a channel behind the cows. The roof is made of slate or tatch the cows are tied with chains around the neck. Cross cows are tied by the legs. The tyings are made of rope, leather or chain. Some of the tyings are made at home.
A goat skin is hung up behind the door to bring luck on the stock. If you sing while milking a cow she would give her milk more freely.
The horses names are-, Moll, Lass, Sally, Beso, Kit, Peg, Charlie, Bobbie, Paddy, and Tom. In the stable is a manger for hay and straw and a tub for holding oats. The fodder is straw and hay.(continues on next page)
