- (continued from previous page)"There is a bunch of rushes growing over the door and pull one out every morning and if milk comes out, I am alive but if blood comes out I am dead". So Jack was going away every day he was looking for food and shelter. At last he came to a poor man's house in a wood and he asked to be admitted and his wish was granted to him. He asked for his supper and he was told he must go out in the wood and kill a wild pig. So he did and when the pig was boiled he was cut in two halves and Jack got one half and the poor man ate the other half. In the morning Jack (?) all his goats were straying (?) arrived to the house and he and he was a giant in the wood and if he caught the goats grazing he would kill the poor man. "Very good" said Jack "I will see if he is good enough to fight me". So Jack drove the goats up to the hall(continues on next page)
