- (continued from previous page)for their poor scanty meals and oftentime they would use none at all. It was also a custom of theirs when visiting to each others houses to have a long well scrubbed timber table laid on the middle of the floor. A very clean bag was then spread on it. When the potatoes were boiled the pot was emptied along the table so that each person had his share opposite him. They used to go out to the neighbouring gardens picking the "crow" potatoes as we call them.
