- The Holy Wells are loved and revered by the Irish people. In almost every parish in the land one of those wells is found, and they are usually called after a Saint or dedicated to Our Lady. There is very little of historical value written about those wells, the traditions seem to go back to a very distant period and were conveyed from one generation to another, so a mysterious veil of reverence surrounds those places. Each year there is a "pattern" day, usually a holiday on which many people visit those wells and pray there. Many patients claim they were cured of illness after those visits or rounds.
