- This strange story was told to me many years ago, by a very old man. He was highly cultured and of a scientific turn of mind so his words impressed me deeply as we walked over the hallowed ruins.
The old Mungret of many centuries ago, was a seat of light and learning and in that district to-day many noble ruins may be seen telling of its great and storied past.
It was while walking through one of those ruins that the old gentlemann told me the following story. "As you are aware, these ruins are in my lands and I believe those ruins were once a Franciscan friary.
Now there is a traditional belief that there was a connection between this ruin and the old Abbey in Kilkeady Churchyard(continues on next page)- Collector
