  1. Fairy Forts.
    There are a number of forts in our district, and some of them are connected with one another with underground passages, and at present no person could definitely point out the exits or inlet of those passages. There is a fine specimen of these forts in the Broadford road or Mrs. Leonard's farm. This fort is of larger dimensions and covers about an acre of ground. The mound around it is in a good state of preservation. There is a deep trench surrounding it also. This fort is greatly revered as it is supposed that it is not lucky to interfere with it, or cut any trees that grow within it. This fort is supposed to have a passage
