- There is only one Smiths forge in Drumcollogher. This forge is situated at the end of the street, and has a modern appearance inside and outside. The roof, windows and door are different to the forges which were here some years ago. In former years there was more than one forge in the town and the oldest of them was adjacent to the school.
This forge belonged to James Culnane, and three of his sons were blacksmiths and in former times those three men were often working together at the three anvils in making horse shoes, and other necessary things , such as repairing ploughs, harrows(continues on next page)- Collector
