  1. My home district is Ballinarouga. It is in the Parish of Clouncagh. It is said to have been a very historical townland during 17th century. It is known as the Town of the Battles. It got its name from the many battles fought there. It owe's it's importance to it's castle which is now in ruins. The population of Ballinarouga to the present day is about sixty. In former times people emigrated to foreign countries. An important river which is a tributry of the Deel flows through it. A gravelly stream rises in Ballinarouga and flows through Ballingarry. It is known as the "Grianack."
