Then all of a sudden up came the angry ghost and grasped Thady and said, "Thady you are done at last". He saw her grim pale face and her sparkling eyes and her scarlet cloak flowing wildly around her. He tried to grasp her but in vain and his hands felt nothing but the air. The lady catching him threw him into the river.
Thady struggled against the raging tide and he made a gallant fight for life and knowing how to swim it meant no watery grave for him. As he was coming near the Curragour falls he saw a boat and grasped it. In the morning he was found almost dead by a fisherman and he was brought to the shore by him, well sobered. After that there was not as good a Christian to be found in the whole parish.
