  1. On top of the hill outside the village on the north side there is a cairn called Leaba Diarmuida.
    It is said that Diarmuid and Gráinne when pursued by Fionn, pass through the district and spent one night in the cairn hence name.
    There is another old story in the parish.
    It is said that Cú Culann followed a pig from Co Sligo to the townland of Ballycrana on the east of the village. The story explains the name.
