    on the site where the present public house stands in the village. He taught there until the present National schools were built n 1869.
    The hedge schools masters got no salaries but they were supplied with food and lodging by the parents of the pupils.
    The pupils used slates instead of copy books and their pencils were soft stones collected from the bed of the river.
