  1. In former times people used to be about sixteen years of age before they got a pair of boots and the one pair would have to do three or four of the family to go to mass. They would meet on the road coming from mass and take them off and give them to another one of the family to go to another mass and go barefoot till Sunday again. We know a woman who never wore a pair of boots or shoes. Her name was Mary Coughlan. (Mary the Dogs we all called her. She was a live up to a few years ago. Children
