  1. Shrove begins after Little Christmas and lasts until Ash Wednesday. Shrove is a lucky time for getting married. The unlucky months for getting married are May, August, September and October and the unlucky days are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. There is a rhyme connected to this which goes as follows :
    Monday for wealth,
    Tuesday for health.
    Wednesday the best day of all,
    Thursday for losses,
    Friday for crosses,
    and Saturday no luck at all.
