    a large pack of hounds in full cry emerge from the moat followed by a large number of men on horseback. He states that all the lot came thundering towards him. He threw himself flat on the ground in the greatest fear, as he could feel the gush of air and noticed the extended nostrils of the horses as they came over him. He had to remain in this position for over two hours, as each time he attempted to escape out of their path, the hounds and horses were approaching him again. At length he heard a cock crow in a local farmyard, and he said that immediately the moat opened and all the hunt disappeared into it.
