    Oldtown Hospital was champion walker of Ireland. The Rev. J. J. Daly of Ballycarrane Emly was in his athletic days champion jumper of Ireland. The distance being forty two inches or thereabouts. Mr. N. F. Delaney of Tipperary excelled himself in being mile champion of Ireland. He also captained the Irish Team into Olympia in 1916. The Rev. J. J. Daly performed his athletic feats in Mallow, Clonmel and Dublin. Major George Dockrell O.B.E. of Dublin was in his day champion Swimmer of the world, the distance being one mile and his nephew Mr. Hayes Dockrell also of Dublin won the Irish Champion in the mile.
