- The name Poll an Airgrid suggests that there must have been some foundation for the stories of hidden treasure connected with this place which is situated between Tervoe and Mungret. Poll an Airgrid is more frequently mentioned than Carrig O Gunnell in connection with treasure-hunts.
The following are a few versions :-
(1)
It is said that there is gold hidden at Poll an Airgrid. One night three men went to look for it. They kept on digging until about twelve o clock. Then they took a rest. Just at twelve sharp a man appeared just near them. The ghost told them that a mife must be lost before the money is found. They were frightened and ran away. About half-an hour later they returned and again began digging. A number of frogs jumped up out of the hole. They tried to catch them but were unable. They had to adandon the search.- Collector
