    We Irish are Jolly and gay in our manner,
    We're fond of good music,a dance and a song,
    And each of us paid down our five and a tanner,
    To have a good time while the nights they were long.
    You may travel from Cork to the fair Hills of Antrim
    For anyplace else round this island at all,
    But a jollier crowd never kicked up a tantrum
    As the crowd that assembled at Byrne's Ball.

    Jack neill from Fervoe, of course he was present,
    A Chap never touches a drop of the "booze",
    His handsome young face it looked awfully pleasant
    And he danced till the rubbers fell off of his shoes.
    James Cooney, the comic, he made us all laugh, Sure
    And gay Jackie Meskill the flower of them all
    His music it filled all the girls with laughter
    As they whirled all night at Byrne's Ball.

    Frank Kelly he rang and his voice it would charm you,
    He told us how Cassidy won the big war.
    Jack Garvey who spent his whole life in the army
    Had one eye on the girls and one on the jar,
