- About fifty years ago Knigh hurlers were the champions of North Tipperary. One of the most remarkable hurling matches was a game played between Knigh and the Silvermines.
The teams met at the Ford of Corragh [?] in the parish of Silvermines. The goals were not marked like they are now. There was no cross pole but two long poles. It the ball went out at the far side of those this would be counted as a point.
The two famous teams for football in North Tipperary were Nenagh, and Ballywilliam.- Collector
