  1. This poem was composed by William Meara who lived from about 1810 until 1880. He was a native of Corrrig , Templetuohy. This poem was corrected by a teacher in Ballymore. It was recited for me by Micheal Meara . Age 62
    The Hare pf Gurteen
    This being the date of the year '63
    The annals of history recorded to be,
    Of the dog and the sportsman and the pretty poem ,
    And young Keeshan the groom that eye-witnessed the sport.
    This being the date of the song and the praise,
    Of a well bred dog , both native and brave ,
    For to challange Tipperary and each county round,
    For a coursing match on him I would wager five pounds.
    It being on a Spring Morning the first day of March ,
