  1. When the cat turns her back to the fire it denotes rain.
    Reddening in the East at sunrise denotes bad weather and reddening in the west is the sign of fine weather.
    When the heron flys up the river it is a good sign of the weather and when it flys down the river is is a bad sign of the weather. When the smoke goes up straight it is a good sign. When the smoke blows down to the ground is is a sign of rain.
    If the swallows are flying high it is the sign of good weather and if they are flying low is is a sign of bad weather.
    \when the soot falls down the chimney it is a bad sign.
    When there is a good number of stars in the sky it is the sign of frost.
    If the river roars down we may expect rain.
    If it roars up we may expect fine weather.
    When the smoke remains inside in the kitchen it indicates rain.
    A rainbow in the sky denotes showery weather.
    When wild geese are to be seen flying towards the bogs we can be firehased for very hard weather.
