- Once there was a tree on the side of the road and the local people said it was a fairy tree. Men were widening the road and they had to cut down the tree. Then the people said that they would be haunted because they cut down the fairy tree and said they would tie it up again. When the people came the next day to tie it up the tree was standing up and they said it was the fairies that put it right. There are sometimes little rings on the side of a hill, if any one walks on one of these at night he wanders round all night.
