- (continued from previous page)He told how the hand of the spoiler,
Her sons and fair daughters crushed down,
But alas, now his sweet tongue is silent,
In the graveyard of old Lagganstown.
VII
A priest, and a great theologian
Lies there in a cold silent grave
Who, through life with the greatest devotion,
Laboured poor sinners to save.
By his flock he was loved and respected
Until cruel death cut him down,
The peace to repose, he selected
Was the graveyard of old Lagganstown.
VIII

And darkness soon covers the place
So I was freed with reluctance
My footsteps home to retrace
But before I returned from that region
On a friendly grave I knelt down
And prayed for the souls of those brave men
In the Graveyard of Old Lagganstown
