a fair irish maid and her age scarce sixteen,
and she courting her banner White,Orange *Green.
    2
A bold english sargent being passing the way.
He spied this fair maid and her banner so gay.
he watched and he looked and jumped from his machine.
Intending to capture the flag of "sinn féin".
    3
Will you give me your banner
    the Sargent replied
If you give me your banner
    you'll do what is wise.
If you give me your banner you'll do nothing mean
    but to render your colours
    White, Orange and Green.
