  1. Paddy Gallaher of Finure More used make ropes of bogdeal. These ropes used to be put up on the houses every Winter and taken down in Spring. Then they used be put into a boghole till the following Winter so as they would remain fresh.
    Gallaher made the ropes in this way. He got a bogdeal stick and split it into thin strips with a sharp knife. He twisted the cords or strips on the back of a chair and had three "cors" in same.
    According as he made it he wound it round the chair and kept adding to it until it was about forty feet long. About twelve of these bogdeal ropes used be put on a house as a protection against the winter
