- St Martin was a very holy man. He went around preaching the Gospel to the people. On the eleventh of November we celebrate the feast of St Martin.
It is a custom of the people to kill fowl and spill the blood in honour of that great Saint. It is also a custom of the people to dip a piece of cotton wool in the blood as it is considered very good for a sudden pain.
Some years ago the mills were not worked or any class of carts were not used on that day as it is said St Martin was ground in a mill.- Collector
