  1. In olden times the people of Omeath had three meals a day - breakfast, dinner and supper. They had breakfast about nine o'clock, dinner at one and supper just before they went to bed. They used to get up very early in the morning and go out working before they had any food.
    For breakfast they had porridge. For dinner sometimes they had potatoes and fish. Sometimes they had potatoes and butter and cabbage. Others would down to the shore and gather a can full of either muscels or winkles or cockles and then take them home and cook them for dinner and eat them with oaten bread. Some would get a pigs head and gather some nettles and put them into the pigs head and boil it. When boiled they would eat it with oaten bread.
    They used to kill, skin and eat goats, sheep, rabbits and hares. When they killed and cleaned a lot of these animals they used to salt them and they would keep long time.
    For supper they had porridge again with milk. They used to drink
