- The potatoes are taken out in October by a plough and are gathered by some school boys and are drawn home in carts. There is a pit made about a half yard down in the ground and they are put in it and covered with straw and clay so that the rain cannot wet them and then when the men have time. They are picked by the men the small ones are taken from the big ones. The big ones are taken to the market and sold and the small ones are taken to the Alcohol Factory.
