Sod is one of Markey's (?) fields. It is called the Tower field.
Paddy Campbells father (of Hitchestown) who crossed the fields at all hours of the night was coming from his friends in the Thornogs on dark night knowing his pass so well he wouldn't take a lamp.
He followed on his pass until he came to a gap where he tried to get out and couldn't. He lighted matches and still it was no good use. He went round the field a couple of times and in the finish he lay down and at daylight when he got up to go home he was lying beside the gap.

The two-gate field, so called because there are two gates on it.
Moore's field, so called because it belonged to Moors.
The Bleach field, so called because there was linen done in it.
