- The people long ago did not wear boots because there were no shoe makers in the district. It is about 80 years ago since they began to wear them. They used to go bare footed. Some children go bare footed in the Summer in the district.
The people long ago when they had sore feet they would wash them in cold water. Then they would rub them with St. Patricks leaf for three nights.
There are two shoe makers in the district. Their names are Arthur Grimes and James Grimes. These men mend boots and shoes.
