- During the days of the Penal Laws St. Peter's parish chuch in Drogheda was turned into a protestant church. The protestants did not want to have the holy water font there so they made three attempts to do away with it. First they took it and threw it away, next day it was back in its place, so they took it away and it was back in its place again the next day. They next filled it with cement and it would not set. It crumbled away so they had to leave it in its place and it is there ever since inside the door.
