    first heard of the old man's death.
    Afterwards a brave man bought it and he and his servants came to live in it. It was a strange thing that every night at the same hour a bell would ring. It was so annoying that the servants were unsettled and it was hard to get them to stay.
    This worried the brave man a good deal so he made up his mind one night to remain up and find out the cause of all the trouble. At the same hour he saw a shadow going over towards the bell and the next moment it was heard tolling through the place. He walked over
