- About thirty five years ago some women in Drogheda used to go out to the fields to gather traneens. This was a kind of grass growing in tufts with little seeds in the centre. When they would get as much as they could carry home on their backs, they would spend their evenings seperating the seeds until they would have a stone of seed.
