“One night a man was coming home from cleaning carriages at the station.”
One night a man was coming home from cleaning carriages at the station. He lived in the Dale. When he got to the top of the Dale he heard twelve o clock ringing. Just then he heard a flippity flop. He looked round and saw a coffin rolling down the road. He stood and as soon as it got even with him it stopped and said Can you tell me the time. Says the man I can. It is just after ringing twelve. The coffin that's all right and I will be at old Moores Church by two.- Informant
