    Old Customs and beliefs
    If you had a wart on your hand you should get a snail and rub it on the wart three times making the Sign of Cross each time then stick the snail on a thorn and by the time the snail is withering the wart is withering .
    For a sty in your eye you get nine gooseberry thorns and point them to your eye.
    A person that never saw his father has the cure of a sore mouth.
    If a man and woman get married with the same name and have a child called after his father and that child to have a piece of bread on the table and anyone with the chin cough to eat it, they would be cured.
    For a sprain goose grease should be rubbed on it.
    If a tooth falls out you should threw it across your left shoulder or another one will not grow in the place.
    If you look through glass at a new moon it will bring you bad luck.
    If you put your coat on you inside out in the morning you should not change it or it will bring you bad luck.
    If you meet a red haired woman first in the morning it will bring you bad luck.
    If you meet one magpie it is for bad luck
