  1. A Cough Cure.
    Ground ivy was used for a cough. This was boiled in a quart of water. It was boiled down to a pint. Then 1lb of brown sugar 1 pt of vinegar 2 lemons 2 sticks of liquorice and 1lb raisins.
    2 1/4 lb of brown sugar candy, 2 lemons, 4 sticks of liquorice. These were all boiled down in a quart of water to 1 pint.
    1 lb raisins, 6 eggs, 4 lemons 1 pint of vinegar 1lb brown sugar. Dissolve the eggs in the vinegar with the shells on. Then beat all the other ingredients.
    Roast salt is the cure of a sore throat. This was roasted on a pan placed in a stocking and tied on the persons neck.
    Pounded snails mixed with a herb is the cure of a sore neck.
    Gladim is the cure of the mumps. This is a weed like a reed which grows in boggy placed. Pull ten and throw away one. Then put three around your neck for three days saying certain prayers.
