    No 3. The Mullein leaf.
    Uses. Mullein is valued for coughs, and all affections of the lungs. For this purpose make an infusion of one ounce of the dried leaves, boiled for ten minutes in a pint of milk.
    Strain carefully; for the minute hairs that cover the leaves are a most powerful irritant to the mouth and throat. Administer in small quantities three times a day.
    It has a pleasant taste.
    Dried leaves smoked in cigarette form are said to relieve some forms of asthma.
    For colic and catarrh an infusion of the flowers in water in beneficial.
    Mullein flowers in olive oil exposed daily in a corked bottle to the sun are used in parts of the Continent for chilblains, earache, etc
