- (continued from previous page)There is an old graveyard in the village of Kilmessan at the Protestant church. Catholics are buried there as well as Protestants because it was formerly a Catholic graveyard.
There are many old tombstones in it. There is an old in which is there since 1749 the time of the famine. There are old stones there also with moss growing on them and there is one with 1652 on it.
The one which 1798 is on, is the tomb stone of Thomas Delany Dunshuaghlin. A woman named Mrs Costigan was buried in the year 1847. The name can't be recognised on the other one because it is worn. There is another one there also with the date 1814 on it and it is worn also.
It is said that one time there were two men and one of them was in the habit of sleeping there at night, one night when he was there the other man was drunk and he came in to sleep. When he awoke in the morning he lighted a match but(continues on next page)
