  1. People say that Tara was guarded a long time ago by a big black dog. He was nearly as big as a sheep. If anyone was walking the roads late in the night he would walk with them, from the Dublin road down to Tara Hill.
He was seen by many people. One person who saw him was Mr Sheridan. He was my great grandfather. He is dead a long time now. The dog has not been seen lately. The night Mr Sheridan saw him he nearly died with fright. He walked up the road with him as far as Tara and then he went into the ditch.
