Others used to live on roasted turnips. Many buildings were erected to help the famine fund including our school Kilbride N.S. and the belltower. - The famine did not effect our district as much as others. The government gave employment to the people around our district because Kilbride National School and a bellfry was built during those times.
The district was not to heavily populated so that helped. The people used to eat the grass along the roads with starvation.- Collector
