    a sudden he heard a crack.
    He started to run and never looked behind him until he got into the house. He was very frightened, and when he looked down at the stick he had nothing but the handle
    As he was going, he was winding the stick and he hit it against a stone just where the ghost was supposed to be.
    He got such a fright that he never went for a walk any more in the night.
