Boys used to make tops from large spools with a nail driven through the centre.
Bird traps were made from sally rods cut about a foot long at the bottom and getting shorter towards the top one is piled on top of the other in a square shape, the corners are tied with a twine a stick lifts it up on one side which has a string tied to it, corn is shaken under this and when birds go under it to pick the twine is pulled from some distance and the birds are caught underneath.
In the same way a riddle used to be left on the ground and boys caught black birds in the same way is very seldom we see boys do that now a day.[Drawing](continues on next page)- Collector
